You need to be the right candidate for treatment before moving forward with surgery. Dental X-rays are often used to examine the jawbone, which is critical for successful dental implant placement
- Oral surgery. A surgical date is scheduled once you have been deemed an appropriate candidate for dental implants. Surgery is done under proper sedation and anesthetics as the dentist places the implant into the jawbone where a tooth once was. The upper part of the implant, known as the abutment, which sits above the gum line, is used to hold a dental restoration in place
