How CEREC dental crowns work
Dental crowns are excellent in restoring damaged, missing, and cosmetically challenged teeth. A dental crown is designed to look and feel like natural enamel to protect your tooth and improve its appearance.
While dental crowns are superb dental restorations, many patients avoid them because of the time consumed. However, with CEREC dental crowns, you don’t have to wait for weeks to rebuild your smile. Dr. Don Mungcal can restore your tooth in one day with the simple steps below:
Initial consultation: We use visual inspections and digital X-rays to determine if a dental crown is the best treatment for your compromised tooth
Designing your crown: We numb your tooth and remove a small amount of enamel to create room for a crown. Then, we digitally scan your teeth and feed the images to a computer-assisted design (CAD) unit to design your bespoke crown
Crown fabrication: Once Dr. Mungcal approves the crown design, we use an in-house milling machine to carve the crown out of a porcelain block. This process takes about 15 minutes as you relax in our waiting room
Crown placement: CEREC crowns are super-accurate, so we make little to no adjustments before using dental cement to secure the crown permanently to your tooth
CEREC dental crowns are the real definition of convenience. From design to placement, the entire process takes about two hours. Does speed compromise the quality of CEREC crowns? No! CEREC crowns match the quality of traditional crowns but with the added advantage of being completed in just a fraction of the time.
