Teeth in a Day

Teeth in a Day - Downtown Dental LA Can Make You Smile with Teeth in a Day

Teeth-in-a-day are often referred to as same-day dental implants, but the goal for your dentist is the same: to create a full arch of dental implants that replace all the teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. At Downtown Dental in Los Angeles, California, we offer advanced oral surgery procedures like teeth-in-a-day to give you a complete, healthy smile that restores your smile and confidence.

Are You a Good Candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day?

Many people with multiple missing teeth believe they must live with spaces in their smile or resort to dentures as their only restoration option. They avoid going to the dentist because they dread the complexity of potential procedures and time in the dentist’s office.

The reality is that teeth-in-a-day makes a relatively fast smile repair possible, even if you think you are missing too many teeth to benefit. Consider whether you fit into any of the following categories:

  • You are missing multiple teeth in one area of your mouth.
  • You have undergone several tooth extractions because of infection or injury.
  • Tooth loss has negatively altered your appearance.
  • Speech is compromised because of missing teeth.
  • It is difficult to bite and chew normally and without discomfort.

What Does “Teeth in a Day” Really Mean?

Teeth-in-a-day is the closest you can get to an immediate smile restoration when you have many missing teeth. You will attend several appointments over the coming months. While you cannot build a new smile with dental implants in a day, achieving the appearance of a complete smile is a reality. Here is how the procedure works:

  • Consultation and exam. Your Los Angeles dentist will examine your teeth and gums, take digital images, and measure bone density to determine if you qualify for teeth-in-a-day.
  • Dental implant surgery. If you qualify for teeth-in-a-day, four to eight dental implants are surgically placed in the jawbone.
  • Teeth-in-a-day. On the same day, your dental implants are surgically placed, you will walk out of your dentist’s office with a complete smile made of temporary teeth. The results are immediate, and your smile looks great and feels natural, too.
  • Healing. Every patient is different, but healing time can take weeks or months while the implants integrate with the jawbone and stabilize. When the surgical site is fully healed, permanent restorations are placed to give you a durable, complete, long-lasting smile.

Considerations for Teeth-in-a-Day

Many patients can have teeth in a day, but some will need additional dental care to prepare for dental implant surgery because of the condition of their jawbone or other oral health matters.

  • Gum disease therapy. Periodontal disease typically causes tooth loss, and this problem needs to be fully treated and healed before dental implants can be considered or placed.
  • Knocked out tooth repairs. Injuries and accidents can lead to tooth loss or extraction, and any area that suffers this trauma must fully heal before being considered for implant restorations.
  • Customization in many parts. Dental implants are not one-size-fits-all, no matter what version of this treatment you undergo. Every implant is precisely made to fit the jawbone, and each prosthetic tooth or bridge is customized to look natural in size, shape, and color.

Oral Cancer Screening Video

Oral Cancer Screening Video
Every patient at Downtown Dental undergoes a thorough check for oral cancer and other dental health issues. This video shows how it’s done.
Here at downtown Dental, we take oral health and cancer screenings very serious. This month is November and it’s the month of oral health cancer awareness and screenings. Every patient we examined thoroughly, we look and we check their lips, tongue and we check for any abnormalities or bumps. At home you should also check to make sure that everything looks okayLeava is going to demonstrate what in oral health cancer screening is and what we examine. So, we first start off by checking all the lips. We make sure that the lips look healthy and that we palpate them, which is touching them and making sure that there’s nothing anormal. Then we go into the mucosa and check the cheeks. We’re going to look and check the hard palate as well as the soft palate. This might tickle a little. We checked the posterior of the tongue. Do you, Viola, go ahead and say, aaaaaa. We check the lateral sides of the tongue. Go ahead and sit your tongue showed up great. And we also check the floor of the mouth. Get the tongue to the roof of your mouth. Good all clear. Oral cancer is especially important to check the patients who are smokers, alcohol drinkers and we thank you for watching the video.
