How does dental bonding work?

Dental bonding is a quick cosmetic procedure but requires an artistic touch to achieve durable and aesthetically appealing outcomes. Our team combines premium materials and attention to detail to create results that blend seamlessly with other teeth.

The procedure starts with an examination of your teeth. Any tooth decay and gum disease must be resolved to ensure your brand-new smile is based on a healthy foundation. The dentist also professionally cleans your teeth to remove any unhealthy deposits.

Next, the dentist applies tooth-colored resin material to the visible surfaces of your teeth. Dental bonding covers chips, stains, cracks, and other minor flaws to improve your smile. After application, we’ll carefully sculpt the bonding material to match the contours of your natural teeth. Once satisfied with the results, we’ll use a special curing light to harden the material. The final step is to polish your teeth for a shiny, natural-looking finish.

What are the benefits of dental bonding?

Many patients are often amazed at how such a minor fix can boost their confidence. Many people wish they had done the procedure sooner.

Here are the notable benefits of cosmetic teeth bonding.

  • Minimally invasive: We apply the tooth-colored material directly to your teeth. Dental bonding delivers stunning results without drilling or excisions.
  • Natural aesthetics: You and the dentist choose the bonding material that closely matches your teeth. The results are so natural that no one will realize you have undergone a smile enhancement procedure.
  • Single-visit fix: Transform your smile in a single appointment without waiting weeks for lab-made restorations. Dental bonding enhances your smile without disrupting your everyday life.
  • Affordability: Dental bonding provides dramatic smile improvements at a fraction of the cost.
  • Versatility: Dental bonding fixes stains, chips, and gaps and resizes/reshapes your teeth for a uniform appearance.
  • Longevity: While dental bonding isn’t as long-lasting as veneers, it offers impressive durability for its affordability. Dental bonding can last 5-8 years with good care.

How do I maintain my bonded teeth?

Although the composite resin is quite strong, proper dental care is a no-miss. Good maintenance extends its natural life and keeps your teeth looking pristine.

Here are ways to maintain your bonded teeth.

  • Brush and floss your teeth diligently to prevent surface stains and plaque
  • Composite can stain, so limit the intake of coffee, red sauce, red wine, and other staining foods and liquids
  • Quit tobacco use of any form, including chewing, vaping, and smoking
  • Don’t use your teeth to chew on non-food items
  • Visit your dentist routinely for cleanings and check-ups

Oral Cancer Screening Video

Oral Cancer Screening Video
Every patient at Downtown Dental undergoes a thorough check for oral cancer and other dental health issues. This video shows how it’s done.
Here at downtown Dental, we take oral health and cancer screenings very serious. This month is November and it’s the month of oral health cancer awareness and screenings. Every patient we examined thoroughly, we look and we check their lips, tongue and we check for any abnormalities or bumps. At home you should also check to make sure that everything looks okayLeava is going to demonstrate what in oral health cancer screening is and what we examine. So, we first start off by checking all the lips. We make sure that the lips look healthy and that we palpate them, which is touching them and making sure that there’s nothing anormal. Then we go into the mucosa and check the cheeks. We’re going to look and check the hard palate as well as the soft palate. This might tickle a little. We checked the posterior of the tongue. Do you, Viola, go ahead and say, aaaaaa. We check the lateral sides of the tongue. Go ahead and sit your tongue showed up great. And we also check the floor of the mouth. Get the tongue to the roof of your mouth. Good all clear. Oral cancer is especially important to check the patients who are smokers, alcohol drinkers and we thank you for watching the video.
